Refusing Success

It often seems that even ambivalence begets the ambivalent. No?  A thought perhaps best expressed by the simplicity of the following quip: There’s no sense wondering if there will be a positive outcome when none seem to care.

“Teach the willing and they will learn. Inspire the listener and they will engage. Leading a legion charged with expectation becomes quite rewarding; moving the unwilling exhausts the agile mind.

A great symphony of potential surrounds the Created while the Creator stirs the universe with signs of endless reward; yet He leaves all outcomes, certain as the two faces of a coin, to the uncertain processes of ones silent discretions.  Certain as the outcomes may be, still the chosen oft stand unwilling, Refusing Success.”

To a Nation continuing to suffer the stagnant realm of want, need and productive employment there can be no greater expression, defining the further plundering of a people by its political elite, than this: Tragic!

Mr. Obama’s signing in to law of the rush-to-fail Tax-Deal continues the seemingly never-ending process of political ambivalence. Not only does the Government, evidenced by its actions, seem ignorant to all forms of reality and its most relevant constructs, it seems universally pledged to be at ease with its own unique brand of being ambivalent.   A few quick examples of the Deals provisions (which by the way is not a Tax-Deal at all but a cleverly drawn Stimulus Package packing-on at least $860 Billion to the already economy-smothering Federal Debt:

  • $345 Billion in Tax Fixes for Individual Filers with no offsets in revenue loss which could have simply been achieved by restoring the tax burden of corporations whose incomes over the last 25 years are at historical highs yet there tax duty continues to progressively register historical lows
  • $112 Billion Social Security year-long holiday for individuals yet no offset in benefits, administrative or fraud related costs required to pay for it.
  • $90 Billion for extended Child-Care Credit is just one of the many uniquely Washingtonian-Elite (type) miss-deeds. Offering a tax-credit to a segment of the population that pays NO taxes.
  • $57 Billion for Unemployment Benefits extension. Caution, before one jumps to the conclusion that I am un-moved by the plight of the habitually unemployed; the benefits go only to extend benefits in the instance existing benefits schemes expire. Further, they do not help any person who’s presently at risk for expiration or has already moved past the benefits period.  This measure is funded by debt creation as well.
  • Estimated $10 Billion in Ethanol Subsidies extends yet another double-take Federal Program. It subsidizes an industry whose production requirements are actually a net-energy consumer and by redirecting corn from the food supply and related processes, not only do we pay an arbitrarily inflated price for fuel, we also enjoy higher food costs as well.

There are several other conspicuous blunders such as the Bio-Diesel Tax Credit and the Alternative Energy Tax Credit which continues to funnel taxpayer-dollars to Chinese Companies and keeps incompetence (e.g., Harry Reed, D-Nv) employed.

Here are a few of the items which the self-entitled elite decided were not suitable for inclusion, in any form or by collateral inference, in the celebrated Tax-Deal:

  • Repeal of Obamacare. It’s a must.
  • Repeal of off-shore investment and tax breaks to Corporations.
  • Repeal of Government Subsidies to Corporate America.
  • Re-structuring of Tax Code to broaden the corporate eligible Tax Base.
  • Expose the trillions of dollars concealed by “Non-Profit” organizations to the same tax burden of every other economic entity.
  • Redirect Tax Burden away from “productive income” and target “non-productive /passive income”.
  • Removal of Tax Liability for Household Incomes below $250,000.
  • Repeal of Wall Street Reform Act 2010.
  • Tax Legislation targeting domestic economic redevelopment.
  • Repeal of Unfunded Federal Mandates bankrupting States.
  • Shelving of the Start Treaty, Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell, Dream Act, etc.
  • Removal of the U.S. from the impositions of the WTO/GATT, NAFTA and CAFTA Treaties.  Let’s not forget the United Nations.
  • Enforcing Boarder Security: We’ve got to stop importing the unemployed and unemployable.

If Washington wants to get real and relevant and strategically address this Nation’s structural voids – all of which are the products of errant government practices – then start with these, otherwise prepare to be voted out of office.  Protectionist?  You Bet!  What good is the politician whose primary objective is other than the processes required for protecting and preserving your inalienable rights?  Answer: They are of no use what so ever!

Before I close, consider the following: The U.S. Congress records a rather curious statistic which I find quite interesting. Forty-Six percent of the combined body of Senators and Congressmen hold law degrees.  Now, I could care less as to the relevance of this issue were it not for the following observation:  It is important to know that a Lawyer is not trained to practice justice, they are in fact trained to practice the law. Further, in the practice of the law, the process does not compel or encourage articulating a higher purpose, cause or result. In fact, it is quite the opposite: the process encourages the process of arbitration to an outcome that ultimately strives toward the lowest possible common denominator. Now then consider that these practitioners possess the greatest percentage (block) of any profession holding elected office and whose native authority heard the very folks responsible for navigating the processes and outcome of your government.  Is it any wonder….

In the practice of representative government the process targeting the lowest possible common denominator should never be a measured of outcome. Yet, I marvel at how frequent a politician will claim success by doing just that!  Just a thought.

Refusing Success is but one face of the coin, one of two possible outcomes whose result is of “…the uncertain processes of ones silent discretions.”
