A Mid-Term Election Summary; Mistakes, Failures and Outlook

Mistakes:

(1) It’s a mistake for anyone to view the election results given the “break” and movement of “independent” voter swing. The GOP should view the outcome as a warning; the next cycle can switch just as quickly.

(2) It’s a mistake to expect that the Obama Administration will change its colors; in fact I expect the President to characterize himself as a victim of the outcome and to stick to his confrontational practices.

(3) It’s a mistake for the GOP to stick with McConnell as a Senate Majority Leader.

(4) It’s a mistake for the GOP to ignore Democrats (Senate/House) particularly those who remain at risk for their attachment to the President; they should be encouraged to assist the GOP in creating a Super Majority to over-ride a Presidential Veto.

(5) It’s a mistake for the GOP to create a polarizing agenda without first establishing and promoting a strategy that, first and foremost, addresses issues that are common to all Americans.

(6) It’s a mistake for the GOP to approach an agenda that doesn’t include a direct assault on economic issues. In tax reform they must NOT reward corporations with tax benefits that are not directly attached to productive-capacity job creation. They must avoid any immigration policy that deals with amnesty, fails to first deal with border security and that is completely ignorant of the price the American state pays for illegal immigration. They must attempt a repeal of Obamacare without simultaneously offering a ready-to-play replacement.

(7) It’s a mistake for the GOP to ignore any one of these points; doing so will strip the nation of any political, social and economic order and open the door for a Clinton Presidency. And lastly,

(8) It’s a mistake for the Senate to allow Obama to strike a nuclear deal with Iran.

Conspicuous Failures:

(1) The outcome of the Kentucky Senate race (McConnell vs Grimes) was a 14 point loss for the DNC challenger (Grimes) who was heavily supported by the Clinton War Machine; this illustrates that the Clinton’s political capital is fading severely.

(2) Ohio and Florida (with Maine as an outlier) are bellwether states; they went GOP.

(3) Scott Walker (R-Wi) won 3 consecutive DNC challenges (initial vote for Governorship, a Challenge Vote by perennial DNC Operatives (Unions and their Operatives) and a Supreme Court Challenge) and still managed a Re-Election Victory. This proves the failure of the DNC’s rank policy of political divisiveness (Race Baiting, War on Women, War on Minorities) and illustrates, soundly, that the public has had enough of it.

Outlook:

The GOP’s national message should be:

We put party aside and serve the common ideals and ambitions of ALL Americans;
Join in!

The GOP has a massive task ahead of it and any misstep along the way presents significant risks. The voting publics fury, as it must always be, will not be tolerant of inaction.

Lastly, too often the immense power of Governors (particularly at the national level/Presidential elections) is overlooked. An exceptional crop of Governors, under the Republican banner, have posted extraordinary results with Governor’s Walker (R-Wi) and Kasich (R-Oh) being at the top of the heap; either of these two could easily translate their capabilities into National appeal and by doing so assist in barricading a Jeb Bush presidential candidacy; I place him neck-and-neck with Hillary in the NFO (not fit for office) category. There you have it.

The following are a select group of responses to question/comments received after the original article was published. We believe you will find them of interest.

#1: For those who didn’t watch the Presidents post-election press conference, here’s a summary: He did exactly as I predicted he would. He summarily dismissed the mid-terms citing, in effect, that not all eligible voters casted ballots. The presumption being that had the no-shows voted they’d surely voted DNC and so it is up to him to stay a failed policy course to protect the victimization of those not represented in the outcome.

An interesting perspective if we considered that no single legislative action promulgated by the President or his Senate Advocate, Senator Harry Reid, were supported by a majority of American voters. The only thing more tragic (for the American people) than a 2 term Obama administration would be a 3rd Term extension of the same with Hillary Clinton at the helm.
