Obama’s Secret Letter to Khamenei – Desperate for a Bad Deal!

A personal appeal from one head-of-state to another is no news or it is secretive. The capability of a competent negotiator is always their ability to be, eminently, personal. The challenge here is that we’re dealing with an issue (Nuclear Arms Technology) that is far more explosive and well beyond the capabilities and competency of a deeply political and terminally divisive Administration.

Too little time and space (here) to offer the history and architecture of the Middle-East and the ruling militants in Iran. Suffice it to say, this is not an American geopolitical matter or is it an economic security matter; no, it far more serious than that and yet what troubles me most, and it should be the same for you, is that Messrs. Obama & Kerry (and Mrs. Clinton before) seem to believe the matter is merely an opportune moment for memorializing what they undoubtable view as an Obama Legacy Making Moment.

The matter, at its base, is definitely NOT a Presidential policy issue; ideally it is a U.N. matter and second to that hapless crew it becomes a National Security issue more appropriately handled in consultation with Congressional Leadership and the U.S. Security Apparatus. If you’re a bottom-line type then the message is this: Under no circumstances should Iran be permitted to have Nuclear Arms Technology, period.

Yes, there will be those who will pose the query as to the supposed right of Nuclear Nations who presently possess such capabilities however this query avoids a critical real world fundamental; they already do and as such why waste time arguing an empty premise given that there is only one possible resolution (the complete abandonment by all nations in possession) which itself is unachievable in the near-term. The spread of this technology must not be permitted and yet, if Mr. Obama is permitted to act unilaterally, that is exactly what will happen.
