Projected Bailout Costs of ACA

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that ACA will cost the government (that’s code for: “YOU”) $1.7 trillion over the next decade; that’s approximately $107 billion per year. Unfortunately, that doesn’t include the component of ACA that “reinsures” the insurance companies for their operating losses and considering that, to appease Mr. Obama, the companies will keep premiums as low as possible as it is quite easy to project the losses. Taking into account the various components, participation rates, premiums paid, claims-made factors and so on by 2015 the bailout would be no less than $152 billion on top of the already projected $107 billion and that doesn’t include the individual state run exchanges.

Ironically the President originally pitched ACA as a vehicle for insuring 30 million Americans which is interesting because the ACA matrix “expects” that about 15 percent of the population will remain uninsured; that’s approximately 45 million Americans. In a rather contorted way Joseph Goebbels (Nazi Minister of Propaganda) was correct; a lie does indeed become the truth!

The following are a select group of responses to questions/comments received after the original article was published. We believe you will find them of interest.

#1: Unfortunately our people seem to prefer electing followers who themselves are led by the lowest possible common denominator of conformity; it gives the public comfort not to be challenged; to not appear culpable or responsible. Leadership, true leadership, requires a vision built upon the drive of higher purpose. True leadership doesn’t manufacture vision, it stirs and draws attention to it.

When, and only when, the vision resonates sufficiently will the people be willing to sell-out to the strength implicit in the ideal of higher purpose and be willing to follow-thru by driving along the course it defines; then and only then can leadership have the fundamental requirement of enduring cause. Remember, without the resonant vision of purpose, Dr. King would have been just another preacher! I’ve been, repeatedly, asked to “run” but the process does not suit or allow for the likes of me and I will not conform to suit the process. So long as the environment will accommodate the likes of a John McCain, a Patrick Leahy, a Harry Reid, a Dianne Feinstein, a Mitch McConnell or a Nancy Pelosi the public momentum toward decay will only continue to propagate.

The way I see it is this: Although you can fix the damage done by these folks you can’t fix a public/electorate that votes for them or abstains from voting against them. Any change for the better must first come from a deliberate and specific change in the mind/spirit of the people themselves; it’s an internal event and one that will never come from external forces and most certainly not by me. My work is in teasing and tormenting the public and where and how they process from there is, as it should be, up to them.
