In the dysfunctional world of politics the standard axiom postures that any challenge, issue or calamity can be solved by expanding federal power; this is how the Third Reich evolved too.

Yes indeed, what we need are more laws attempting to undo the damage done by prior efforts/failures. Sooner or later (hopefully sooner) the public is going to grasp the truth of this statement and sanction the illusion that politicians serve best by serving to insulate you from their personal appetite for the power predatory opportunism flaunts.

Yes, more gun laws make you safer; more free/subsidized healthcare makes you healthier; open boarders makes you more prosperous and more democratic; increased military intervention makes the world safer for democracy; less leadership makes for more cohesion and my favorite, more weakness makes you much stronger!

Yes, government in these United States is not about driving or expanding the Ideal of the once Sovereign Individual but instead it is wholly about political agenda – a process best micro-managed thru crowd control; tell’em whatever you need in order to prevent them from focusing on what you actual do. Given the digital-age press and the speed-of-light 24/7 craven news cycle possesses little to no appetite for investigative vetting seems only to have made much of what is thought of as new-reporting largely indiscernible if not outright unreliable.

In short, the ever-expanding positioning of government into a multi-layered, multi-faceted and thievishly opaque self-serving bureaucracy has not (or should have been expected to) refined the function of governance, it has merely diluted its mandate. Yes, to be sure, the omniscience of electronic media has given many Presidents a cloak ’n dagger-like facility for manipulating the public however, to date none have perfected the science to the level of the current administration.

It’s capacity for fact-distortion is as magnificent in its finesse as it is brazen in its colorful self-defense routinely leaving the press-gaggle suffering from intellectual brain-freeze proving Goebbels missive; “It (thus) becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Face the facts; violence (in this country) is not a function of guns, but an extension of government-caused social dysfunction however, when in the hands of a skillful operative it easily becomes a marvelous tool for polarizing people and camouflaging failure and this President has systematically used this card whenever he has need of redirecting public awareness away from his.

Now then, and to avoid any suspicion that there is no risk that the President may yet wish to leave his mark on the 2nd Amendment there remains a serious concern imbedded within his current effort. An argument can be made that his proposed directives may open the door to a national gun-owner database and this risk represents a move that may survive a legal challenge. It is true that the Supreme Court has been specific about the “right to keep” a gun however it has not been eager to suspend the Governments authority to administrate ones keeping of a weapon (keyword: “administrate”). The following are a select group of responses to questions/comments received after the original article was published. We believe you will find them of interest.

#1: In response to an online post wherein the respondent lamented that “…we let GW get away with it and I didn’t hear a peep; now we’re concerned? At least 15 years too late. I was there…and no one was with me so I now don’t give a damn.”

No “MP”, you do give a “damn” which is precisely why it offends you so (as it should). What upsets you, as is the case with many others, is that those who you entrust with your faith (your elected officials) seek to mitigate consensus instead of pursuing the absolute of perfection.

The more vile explanation could also be that the public observes the inequity of bias; while elected officials represent a probe benefits for a select view while they have no such hand in the very same trough. The better outcome, of course, is that the government have but one bias (in the process) and that is to fulfill the promise common to all.

The real tragedy is that the public, while busy arguing with itself, ignores they greater truth that they are arguing a false premise planted by the system to keep it separate and apart from those (the public) it is intended to serve.
