Obama’s Secret Letter to Khamenei – Desperate for a Bad Deal!

A personal appeal from one head-of-state to another is no news or it is secretive. The capability of a competent negotiator is always their ability to be, eminently, personal. The challenge here is that we’re dealing with an issue (Nuclear Arms Technology) that is far more explosive and well beyond the capabilities and competency of a deeply political and terminally divisive Administration.

A Mid-Term Election Summary; Mistakes, Failures and Outlook

Mistakes:

(1) It’s a mistake for anyone to view the election results given the “break” and movement of “independent” voter swing. The GOP should view the outcome as a warning; the next cycle can switch just as quickly.

(2) It’s a mistake to expect that the Obama Administration will change its colors; in fact I expect the President to characterize himself as a victim of the outcome and to stick to his confrontational practices.

(3) It’s a mistake for the GOP to stick with McConnell as a Senate Majority Leader.

GOP Gains Control of Congress; What If?

Without a super-majority in the Senate don’t expect too much; sure the Senate can send a great deal to the president for signature however, as a lame-duck, he’ll have no sense of urgency or need for accommodating the GOP; or will he?

What the GOP will do is use their leverage to demonstrate the extent of the Democrat’s obstruction draining any hopes the DNC may have for 2016.  Having already signed over their authority regarding Debt-Ceiling Limits to the Executive Branch they (GOP) are left only with “spending” Bills as a pro-active tool. On the other hand, if the “Dems” are smart a few may choose to belly-up to the trough and co-op with the Republicans.

Division of Democracy; 4 Billion Indicators

Regardless of the 2014 Mid-term outcome(s) it’s high-time we resolve a serious threat to our Democracy. It is estimated that over 4 Billion Dollars will have been spent on the Mid-terms; 4 Billion Dollars and for what? The process as it is amounts to nothing more than an open invitation for predator-like feeding upon the democratic process and an accommodation to the political process of division; the turning of the American People against themselves.

YOU NEED TO VOTE YOUR FUTURE!

Mid-term elections suffer from a chronic lack of voter turnout and, frankly, turn-out for Presidential cycles are not particularly stellar either. The declining performance of government is not so much a function of progressive momentum shifting cultural/social order but more so that so few show-up and cast their vote in opposition. So the system morphs into malaise and dysfunction not by preference or choice but by default. A Nation fails because no one seems sufficiently concerned to be busied with any element of care/conscience/duty; a painful thought is it not?
