Stimulus Muss

February 15, 2009

Oh my, will the love affair with Stimulus this and Stimulus that ever stop? Will the question of “why stimulus?” ever be asked? Will inquiry on the subject of “who benefits” from stimulus ever see the light of day?  Will,  and I will accept just one,  any talking head,  politician or financial wizard take the podium and give a complete, thoughtful and coherent explanation of the overall strategy being employed?

Here’s another “curtis-ism”;

The art of controlling dialogue is best expressed by structuring the format in which the dialogue occurs: were relevant answers can be summarily voided through preventing equally relevant questions from being asked!

Made-Off is Clear

January 26, 2009

 Yes,  it’s a play on words!  There’s more to say about Bernie Maidoff and his scheme though I’ll leave to investigators, ultimately, to unravel the depth of the misprision.  He will be found guilty, he will give up his lush and lavish lifestyle and spend a few years at any one of the minimum security compounds available.

Democracy, A Tough Choice

January 15, 2009

“America isn’t easy,  America is advanced citizenship, you’ve got to want it bad….” This piece is taken form the 1995 movie “American President” and in the demonstrated performance American ethos and passion,  the scene (“American President – the Speech ”) where this excerpt is sourced is not to be missed. Yes the later 1.4 minutes are annoying to me for the topic of discussion on Crime Bill and Energy Bill a bit on the side of misguided however,  but I must confess,  I’ve never seen Michael Douglas give a more stunning performance.

Failure and Why!

January 1, 2009

January 20th will mark the first official day of the new Administration.   There is a great deal of hope saturating the nuance-of-the-day-term “Change”.   Several million people switched party lines and even more ignored reason, principal and purpose on this nebulous concept.   It’s not the first time, either!

I’ve ceded my hope that someone would be able to crystallize the substantive reason(s) for the near puerile form of euphoria we are witnessing and I’ve replaced it with another form of inquiry.  It, the inquiry,  is both a statement and a question:  Failure and Why!
